Position Summary
We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and professional Direct Support Professionals to join our growing team.
The Direct Support Professional will provide individualized assistance according to each person’s Individual Service Plan, approved service authorization, and Treasure Healthcare policies.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, communicates respectfully, follows support plans, and takes pride in providing dependable care.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation.
• Support individuals with mobility, positioning, transfers, and safe use of approved adaptive equipment.
• Encourage independence and help individuals participate in household, community, recreational, and social activities.
• Provide companionship, encouragement, and emotional support.
• Follow each individual’s Individual Service Plan and approved behavioral, health, and safety supports.
• Assist with medication administration only when properly certified, authorized, and permitted by the individual’s plan and applicable requirements.
• Observe and promptly report changes in health, behavior, mood, safety, or support needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful living environment.
• Complete accurate and timely service documentation, transportation records, incident reports, and timesheets.
• Follow HIPAA, confidentiality, individual-rights, infection-control, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding schedule changes, incidents, concerns, missed services, or changes in an individual’s condition.
• Collaborate respectfully with individuals, families, guardians, case managers, healthcare professionals, and other members of the support team.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current DSP Initial Training certificate, or ability to complete required training before assignment.
• Current CPR certification, or ability to obtain it before assignment.
• Current First Aid certification, or ability to obtain it before assignment.
• Current tuberculosis screening or test as required.
• Valid driver’s license or state-issued identification.
• Ability to pass applicable background checks and pre-employment requirements.
• Ability to understand and follow written Individual Service Plans and agency procedures.
• Dependable attendance, professional communication, and a respectful approach to supporting individuals.
• Ability to safely perform the physical responsibilities of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Current DSP Annual Training certificate.
• Medication Administration Category 1, 2, or 3 certification, depending on assignment needs.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, mobility limitations, or complex support needs.
• Experience using Hoyer lifts or other approved transfer equipment.
• Familiarity with electronic visit verification and electronic service documentation.
Schedule
Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available.
Schedules may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and other hours based on individual service needs and employee availability.
Compensation
$18.00 to $20.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, certifications, assignment requirements, and availability.
Service Area
Assignments may be available in Painesville, Mentor, Cleveland, and surrounding Ohio communities.
Employees are matched with available assignments based on location, qualifications, certifications, schedule, transportation availability, and the needs of the individual receiving services.
